I’m Tahj, and I was born and raised in NYC! For the past 4 years I have been a nomad living in Maryland, California and Virginia, experiencing and learning from different cultures in America. In Maryland, I worked as a farm manager for 2 years and it was truly beautiful. Growing up as a city kid it was a real change of pace for me, and I realized that I find peace being around animals 🙂 Ever since then, I have worked with dogs specifically. First at various doggie daycares, and then I went on to get my certification as a dog trainer at Petco in Virginia! Outside of work, I am an active student of music, too – now that I live in NYC again, I am super excited to play bass in a live setting!

Outside of music, I truly live for dogs! They are what makes a house a home, and I have had dogs in my family home ever since I can remember. Throughout the years, I have been a dog walker and sitter to friends and family. I love surrounding myself with dogs on a daily basis. Ever since working on the farm and even more so as a dog trainer, I have become especially comfortable with dogs of all sizes and breeds. I also have a lot of experience with rescue dogs. When I trained dogs in Virginia, I came across many pet parents who needed advice on how to integrate their new rescue dog into their lives, and I got to work with them in 6 week classes. Something I have learned from that is that patience is key! No matter what kind of behavior the dog might have, I learned it is possible to make progress with patience. That is something I think about with everything I do!

I understand the love you have for your pet and that it’s one of the most beautiful and special relationships in your life! They are angels that always have a way of lighting up a room. Needless to say, I am so happy to be a part of the RuffCity Team and cannot wait to spend some quality time with your furry friend!
