Simon – Uptown

My name is Simon which makes me British almost by default don’t you think? No, I still haven’t forgiven my parents 🙂 I was born and raised on a farm in the deep English countryside not far from Bath.  As a kid, I would often be up at the crack of dawn to ‘help’ my mum milk the cows. In reality, this meant me playing with the newborn calves and piglets which I thought was always tremendous fun. Needless to say, cleaning me up before school was a pretty thankless task. I had a gift for getting dirty quickly. I have a sneaking suspicion this is also why I seem to be immune to everything barring Ebola.
Furry friends have always been an intrinsic part of my life. I’ve always regarded cows as scaled-up pooches. They’re intelligent and have very distinct personalities. They’re curious and surprisingly emotive, given the opportunity. Try tickling a cow under the chin and watch her turn into a big pile of mush.
Outside of my love for bovines, I grew up with Anna, my beautiful brindle boxer. We were inseparable and I still miss her terribly to this day even though she’s been gone many, many years. It’s thought that we exchange molecules with whoever we share our space with – wife, kids, your pooch, cat, or parakeet, and that the more time we spend together, the deeper our bonds become. It perfectly explains our attachment.
We’ve developed a very special bond with our dogs – as though we’ve evolved together, meant specifically to be a part of each other’s existences. They’re faithful companions, frequently our confidants, and bringers of so much joy. Is it any wonder we love them? I’ve seen much of the world and witnessed just how essential our doggies are to our lives in different parts of the world. Even with cultural differences, the message is clear, that they add so much value and happiness to all our lives. Having a dog in Gotham undeniably softens the city’s sharper edges and makes life during the pandemic so much more bearable, wouldn’t you agree?
I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of the RuffCity team and you can rest assured that your pooch will enjoy his or her time with me because they are truly loved and will be taken care of as if they were my own. I’m honestly probably getting more out of this ‘job’ than they are!
