Jacob – Uptown

My name is Jacob and I’ve been living in New York City since 2017.  However, I’m a New York boy through and through, as I was born & raised Upstate New York in a small farm town in a faraway land called “Canisteo”.

After my quiet upbringing in the farmland of NY State, I moved to Rochester, NY and did my first two years of film school there, and then finished up my last two years of film school here in NYC! (-: In between all this mumbo jumbo, I’ve spent some time solo living in the mountains of Colorado and Tuscany and I am very passionate about the outdoors, film, writing, tea, being a dork, traveling, yoga, and of course ~ dogs!

My first dog was a Christmas present to me from my parents / Santa, when I was 7. She was an amazing golden retriever that I was allowed to pick out from the pack of golden retriever pups, and it felt like instantly our souls matched. Her name was Nalla (after the Lion King, of course!). I loved her dearly, as I do all dogs, of course, and they feel like an essential part of me and my formative years. After Nalla, my family got my absolute very best pal in the world – Ellie. She’s a German Shepherd / Poodle mix [pictured below]. She’s still around, just hanging out in the fields of Upstate New York, enjoying family life and chasing cats.

Also a formal and informal student of cinema: I’ve always had a deep connection and admiration of Buddy, the canine protagonist of the “Air Bud” film(s) – on & off the court.  If you haven’t seen these quality films, Buddy is an escaped circus dog who joins his adopted family’s high school basketball team. Not only is it impressive that this golden retriever is so good at basketball, but he’s also an all-star at bringing the family together.  I also find it very inspiring that there are so many Air Bud films, including but not limited to:

Air Bud: Golden Receiver, Air Bud: World Pup, Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch, Air Bud: Spikes Back. There are also seven spin-offs and two prequels. It’s quite remarkable, really, and I strive to have a career with that kind of longevity.

All of this being said, I find our connection with dogs to be one of the most fulfilling things in life and I’m truly thrilled to be a part of the RuffCity team and cannot wait to form a connection with you and your pup!
