Abby – Uptown Manager

My name is Abby Bradley and I am a dog lover originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan (yes, there really is a Kalamazoo)! I have been living here in NYC since the beginning of 2014. Before then, I was in the city on and off for a few years visiting my boyfriend while I finished my degree back home. It was a great way to gain experience with and ease me into the big city life, and we now live together with our one (for now) rescue pup and three cats.

Since the day I was brought home from the hospital, I have lived with and loved dogs. My home always had at least 1 dog, usually 2, and a few times there we even had 3 and 4. From Labradors to hodgepodge mutts, Beagles to Shetland Sheepdogs and Australian Shepherds, we definitely covered our size and breed bases! Due to all of the doggie exposure, I connected with dogs from a very young age, and because of this connection grew a strong passion, understanding, and devotion.

Between the ages of 11-13, I took weekly dog obedience classes with my local 4-H group. This progressed into dog obedience and showmanship competitions where, during my first competition, I placed 4th out of over 60 entrants. It was here that I came to better understand communicating with our furry friends; it is not enough that they learn our language and mannerisms, but we must also go into their world and learn their language as well. I gained even more doggie wisdom by working at a dog grooming and boarding facility while in college. There I was responsible for grooming and handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments, from rescued and shy Great Danes to primped and pampered Corgis. Because of my commitment and knowledge, my family and friends come to me whenever they ever have inquiries about or issues with their fur babies.

One of my favorite quotes to live by is “He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.” Therefore, whether it’s your fur kid or my own, I am dedicated to caring for each and every dog and making their lives a little brighter; after all, isn’t it the least we can do for them after all they’ve done for us? I’m so grateful to be a part of the RuffCity management team, and I look forward to working with you and making sure all of your scheduling needs are always met and your expectations of us as a service are forever exceeded!
