My name is Renita Wright and I’m an Army veteran born and raised in Brooklyn. I served from 2010 – 2016, initially as a Unit Supply Specialist and then as an Armorer, but I eventually worked in the Human Resources department and was responsible for the health, welfare, and readiness of the soldiers in my care. While I am happy to be living life as a civilian again, I loved my service with the Army and in my heart, I’ll always be a soldier for life. While stationed in Kansas, I rescued my beautiful Black Lab, Jae Jae, named affectionately after my favorite musical artist, Janet Jackson. She was only 9 weeks old when I “rescued” her, but over the years, I’ve actually discovered that she was the one that rescued me. Jae Jae is my heart and soul and I strive every day to be the best dog mom I can possibly be for her.
In 2016 we moved back to Brooklyn and I studied at The New York Film Academy where I became a certified Broadcast Journalist. I also have a degree in Early Childhood Education because I adore children but storytelling is my passion. When I’m not spending time with my dog or others I’m taking photographs and creating short films. After being in the military, I realized that the only job I’ll ever enjoy is one that I actually love. I’m so happy to be living my best life of creating stories and spending time with pups and I simply cannot wait to spend some time with your fur kiddo, exploring this beautiful city we live in on our RuffCity adventures.
