My name is Hannah Shaffer. I am from a little bit of everywhere and have only come to NYC recently in pursuit of new adventures and life lessons. It turns out that I simply can’t think of a better way to explore parts of the city than strolling along with some wonderful pooches.

In spite of the constant moving that has marked my life, I have been very blessed to have been raised in the company of lots of animals (including my three lovely sisters 😉 ). I’ve grown up with dogs, cats, horses, ducks, chickens, rabbits, and many other animal-babies. In turn for caring for them, they have shown me the true meaning of compassion, love, selflessness, and happiness, and I wouldn’t be the same person I am today without having learned some of life’s most important lessons from them.

When making the important decision to come to the Big Apple, I had to choose between bringing along my own fur-baby-Marley, a Miniature Australian Shepherd- or leaving him on the farm with my mom. As he is a rescue and very timid around new people, foreign places, unknown dogs, and strange smells and sounds, I made the tough decision to leave him where he’ll be happiest: running amok in the pastures with the horses and surround by the comfort of his familiar home.

Life without animals simply isn’t comprehensible to me, though, so I can’t wait to get my daily doggie fix helping to care for other people’s furry family members! I’m so happy to have joined RuffCity, and I look forward to meeting everyone-pups, owners, and all!

See you on the sidewalk soon!
