I’m Claire Blaskiewicz and I currently live in upper Manhattan. After decades of dreaming about being a part of this city, (I’m originally from NJ) I moved here just over 2 years ago and am now starting to think of myself as a true New Yorker! When high school was over, I spent some time traveling around the U.S. I then made my way down to Tallahassee, where I attended Florida State University and received a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science & Policy. I am currently studying for the GRE to (hopefully) get my Master’s degree in Animal Behavior and Conservation….and maybe one day even go for a PhD!
Over the last 10 years, I have worked at a shelter and two doggie daycare facilities. Each job was rewarding in that it was an opportunity for me to learn dog handling, socialization, temperaments, the importance of a good bowel movement (very important for dogs and humans, alike) and even some basic veterinary skills.
Then there are the less technical things I’ve learned from dogs…like how to be a loyal friend (because no matter how much they love the dog handler, nothing gets a dog more excited than seeing their owner at the end of the day), and how to make the best of your situation (treats usually help with that). The most important conclusion I have come to, however, is that there is always something new to learn from each dog about their individual personalities, their specific breeds and the way all dogs see and experience the world.
That’s why I am so excited to be a part of the RuffCity team! I’m so happy to get the chance to continue getting to know all the pups I can! I guarantee that I will treat your pets as if they were my own; with all the love and care possible!
